Maxwell gives Alicia a child and watches over her, wanting to collect the child when he’s born. He observes her so she won’t know that he’s there in the shadows. The more he watches her, the more he starts to like her.
Slowly, he starts to fall in love with her. That was something that he hadn’t reckoned with.
Alicia can’t believe what happened to her. A wolf, pretending to be hurt, lures her into a cave. He kept her there with him all weekend.
A month later, when she discovers that she’s pregnant, she decides to raise the baby on her own. After all, she can’t go to the police and tell them that a wolf impregnated her. No one would believe her.
Then she meets a man determined to court her. Maxwell Collins talks of taking her away with him to his mansion. He wants to provide for her and her child, pointing out that Alicia isn’t capable of raising a child on her own.
Alicia can’t risk falling in love with him. She has to protect her baby and the secret of who the baby’s father is. Besides, this Maxwell guy is cheeky and far too pushy with his old-fashioned ideas about family.
Can Maxwell get Alicia to love him back?

A delicious dark journey of redemption and love

As a huge fan of Ms. Burns writing I was a little uncertain about this book. It is definitely different from her typical story line. Fortunately Ms, Burns quickly proved that she can write new and interesting stories. Loved this story, it is a little dark but it is really a story of love, redemption and the power of forgiveness. The twists and turns kept me reading late into the night. As usual her characters are well developed and inherently damaged. Every story is an emotional journey. As a reader, the emotional depth of her stories and characters keep me coming back for more. Keep them coming Ms. Burns.

Loved It!

This was different from the other Rachel Burns books I've read and I really enjoyed it! I am hoping she writes more along these lines. Loved the storyline and as with all of her books, you just can't stop reading once you've started. Huge Rachel Burns fan!

This was a good story overall

This was a good story overall. It could have easily went from an almost gentle romance to an erotic story. The sex scenes were limited. The story starts with Maxwell tracking the woman he wants to have a child with. He only wants a child, he's not ready for a relationship. He learns more about Alicia and falls in love with her. He decides to marry her and raise their child together. She's against this of course, and thinks he's crazy. Like I said, it's a good gentle romance with very little angst. Limited drama. Now, personally, I would have liked some detail about how the wolf took her, all we got was "He jumped on her back and held her in place by biting her neck". Then it was over and he lay down beside her. I was expecting more details, but I understand how that would have changed the story and moved it in a direction the author maybe didn't want it to go. I'm more of a strong, dominant, possessive alpha male fan. Maxwell's character was okay for this book, but I feel it could have been so much more. The spanking scenes were brief and not thoroughly detailed. Even when she got wet during a spanking, it was used as a turning point to delve deeper and make it more. I actually was looking forward to some steamy sex after one of these spankings. It never happened like that. The author wrote good characters and I was able to connect with both of the leads and even with Abigail. The story does need some editing, but it wasn't so bad I couldn't figure out what was going on. This is my first book by this author and I plan to read more. I just hope some of them take me to that fantasy place I like to go when I read where reality can take a break and passion rules the day.
