Irritated!!

This book has me on edge wanting to know the outcome of all lives involved but just like clockwork, it ends at the best parts!! Of course book 3 is not even out so there's no telling how long it will be before I know everyone's fate!! Does any author write stand alone novels anymore?? Sometimes it takes years for an ending to be released and by then, you can barely remember the book with so many books popping up out here....especially if you read a lot!! Ugh!!

Urban street life is vividly revealed in 'A Thuggish, Ruggish Love,' a second in a series book by Regina Swanson.

Colorful real-life characters such as Blaze, Aleah, Xavier, Mackie, and Keya struggle to find romance and redemption in the inner city. The straightforward dialogue cuts with truth and realism. The characters each have a distinct voice; they grown on you with time. Is there violence? Yes, there is. It's an integral part of the plot that drives the story quickly forward and affects the different players in a unique way.

This is a well-written suspenseful ride which enlightens as much as it entertains. It’s the first book I've read by Regina Swanson, but certainly won't be the last.

A Thuggish, Ruggish Love 2 by Regina Swanson has just got hotter and more intense than one before it. Wow...the drama and romance heat up inside this new novel. The writing continues to impress me as it lures me deep into four lives that just keep getting more complicated. Complicated, sexy, and emotional...that's A Thuggish, Ruggish Love 2 by Regina Swanson. The suspense from the last novel's ending expands into this title and it's impressive. The old and new issues get tangled and loyalties blur. Where will Keya, Xavier, Aleah, Mackie and her brother Blaze end up...then there's a new character who gets more attention...and Keya might just find a bit of happiness for once. The big questions that keep readers on the edge of their seats are whether or not siblings will stick together or go with what finally makes them happy.

A man is left hospitalized and his sister, new lover, and wife are worried if he'll make it out fine. Then there's his sister who works hard at her job and trying to help her brother and his wife with their issues. Blaze doesn't want the thug life but his sister loves it and now it's coming back to bite them both in the ass...only thing is Blaze willing to go to the lengths to protect his sister from what he tried telling her not to do or will he do what he needs to do to be happy? Aleah is in a rut. Her husband went from a loving great man to very abusive faster than she could ever imagine. He stops with abuse but ignores her all the time and then finally goes after another woman. A woman that is highly dangerous...and living a dark lifestyle that's about to crumble....a simple fight ensues and all of them are involved in some way or another. Will they survive or fall trying? A Thuggish, Ruggish Love 2 is steamy, fast-paced, and intriguing. Regina Swanson doesn't disappoint. Her characters have once again, dragged me deep into the center of their lives. Their world became my own...Overall, I highly recommend this urban street romance to all.

DIANA DENNIS trained as a nurse at the Middlesex Hospital before becoming an air hostess with BOAC in 1960. In 1962 she married a Hong Kong lawyer within ten weeks of their meeting. The wedding took place at her father’s church in Buckinghamshire. Dick and Diana were married for forty-five years until Dick’s death in 2007.

In parallel with bringing up their three sons, Diana studied for A Levels and gained a BA in English at London University. She then embarked on training as a Jungian analytical psychologist. She practised up until the death of her husband, when she enrolled for a Creative Non-Fiction MA at City University.

About the Author
James A. Bill is Reves Professor of International Studies and Government at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. His books include the award-winning "The Eagle and the Lion: The Tragedy of American-Iranian Relations".

Robert Springborg is Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School. Until August, 2008 he held the MBI Al Jaber Chair in Middle East Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, where he also served as Director of the London Middle East Institute. Professor Springborg's publications include Legislative Politics in the Arab World (1999), Mubarak's Egypt: Fragmentation of the Political Order (1989) and Family Power and Politics in Egypt (1982).

Useful for context and history of the Middle East

This book was a primary text for my Middle Eastern Politics class as an undergraduate in the early 1980s. It was in the second edition at that time, and has gone through a few subsequent editions as politics of the region develops. My particular copy remains useful for history and background purposes; there are chapters on the theoretical ideas of Islam and politics in general, the implications of the post-imperial and post-colonial institutions, and the various conflicts prevalent in the region. So many tend to see the Middle East in an Israel-Arab conflict context, but this text has but one of ten chapters devoted to that particular situation.

According to the authors, `The Middle East might once have been studied as an exercise in statics, but in the last years of the twentieth century, it is a dynamic and explosive area. To be dynamic is not necessarily to change or to change in any particular direction.' In fact, Bill and Leiden see many directions, some convergent and some divergent, in which the Middle East's future is pulled. These include economic, social philosophy, modernization, globalization, and religious revolution directions. It only adds to the complexity that the policies of the United States, Russia, China, and Europe toward the region and individual states within the region fluctuate on a regular basis. Written before the current conflicts of Afghanistan and Iraq began, it speculates on an uneasy future with conflicts of different sorts - a safe prophecy with regard to the Middle East.

I continued to find useful information from the text, and recommend it to anyone seeking a greater historical appreciation of the different contexts and conflicts of the Middle East, in terms here stretching from Morocco and Algeria in the West to Afghanistan and Pakistan in the East.

A Critical Guide to Understanding the Middle East

This is a well-written book explaining the history of the Middle East. It provides the historic basis for understanding the current situation and tension in this region. James Bill is an excellent writer, and a well-known expert on the Middle East. A great book!
