I've read a lot of books like this in my life

I've read a lot of books like this in my life. Seriously - A LOT. From Tony Robbins to Zig Ziglar to Brian Tracey to Jim Rohn to Napolean Hill to some other people that aren't that well known, it's been a hobby of mine for a long time.

It's a big statement, but Lisa's book is one of the best that I've read about this because leaping into the proverbial fire, out of a plane, or joining a public speaking course isn't something that is right for everyone - especially when you don't really need to do that every day.

Confidence is a mindset that we can teach ourselves - it's not always the absence of doubt, fear and uncertainty or knowing that everything is going to be ok. It's about taking steps to reaffirm that we're strong enough to succeed despite those things in our mind that hold us back - and Lisa does a brilliant job of guiding us through the process of taking action to achieve extraordinary results without needing to be extraordinarily outrageous with our actions.

Thank you, Lisa! I'm sure I'll end up buying this book and giving it away to friends in need several times.

The author who wrote this book has a fat-less, nuts and bolts, laser-guided method of teaching what he knows about the subject.
However, I cannot for the life of me, understand why Amazon would charge $80 for something that you can get online, FREE. Yes, the whole book.

Hard to find

It's hard to find piano scores of Christmas music that are at all intricate. Most people want to be able to play their familiar music at the Christmas season without devoting months of practice. So, simple, streamlined scores are the rule. That probably has to be true because that's what most people want. These scores use familiar classical themes as carriers of the melodies for Christmas music. So, you get interesting scores and you get your Christmas music, too. As I write this, the scores are only available at Amazon in unrealistically high priced second-vendor offerings. Notice that the scores are still in print and can be bought directly from the publisher at a fair or even modest price. The availability is not difficult, and there is no reason to pay inflated prices for it.

I love this book!

I was a piano teacher for over 15 years and this collection is one of my favorites for my advanced students as well as myself. The Mozart arrangement in particular is just beautiful. I lost this book years ago so I'm looking forward to playing these carols again! This book is relatively easier to play with than her next collection. That one requires quite a bit of practicing unless one regularly play difficult concertos.

I found a used copy of this book at a book fair for $.50, I couldn't believe my find. It is wonderful, all my favorite Sonatinas wrapped around my favorite Christmas Carols. So beautifully written, for medium advanced piano students. I immediately searched and found a new book on Amazon for my favorite music student. She loves Sonatinas and I know she will use this book for a long time.

The World wasn’t Ready for the Genius of Tesla

This book should be required reading in schools. Authors Margaret Cheney and Robert Uth created a masterpiece on the life of Nikola Tesla, in my opinion the greatest mind the world has ever known. From his youth in (what is now) Croatia until his final days in New York City, all of the important events, discoveries, letters, inventions and diagrams are included. The fantastic photographs alone are worth getting this book; they are plentiful throughout adding a tangible nature to things that happened so long ago and are so difficult for the average person to comprehend, like wireless transmission of energy.
I cannot fathom how Tesla’s mind worked and probably never will, but my appreciation for Tesla and what he did for modern humanity is unsurpassed. I find him the most fascinating human who ever existed (aside perhaps only Jesus Christ). And the part that hurts the most is that Tesla did so much for us yet was constantly held back because he was way too far ahead of his time. He was purposeful hindered and disregarded by those in power who either didn’t want to see him succeed (Edison) or didn’t see the profit in what he was proposing (Morgan et al).
If those in power had only listened to Tesla and followed him, the world would be even more amazing than it has become because of his inventions. We could have had free, sustainable, environmentally-friendly energy worldwide. We could have had electric cars for over 100 years. We could have had a planet without war. We could have had so much that we can barely imagine. Unfortunately the world was not ready for Tesla in 1900, and sadly it is still not ready for his ideas.
I pray that Tesla’s own prophecy comes to fruition: that the future will be his. To say he was unappreciated during his time is gross understatement. I pray humankind of the future will learn to implement his ideas, though I’m not sure our brightest minds working together today could even understand what Tesla knew well over 100 years ago.
Tesla’s was the most amazing lifetime I have ever heard of. I’m so grateful to the authors for putting this wonderful book together. I want everyone to read it and know better the mind and astounding achievements of Nikola Tesla, the world’s premier genius.

Master of Lightning

Tesla was a very interesting, but troubled genius. This is the 2nd book I have read on Tesla and offers great insights into the man. An easy and worthwhile read. Contrary to the content of some other volumes on Tesla, this one does not require any level of technical knowledge. Lots of photos. This is an older book on the subject...while it is still available, it will have been on the shelf for a while and the jacket may look slightly abused.

My Favorite Inventor

This is an easy and interesting read. I reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad read books about the wright brothers and amelia earhart to me. This book would be a great book to read with and older kid. Tesla definitely got me interested in engineering and electricity, do yourself a favor and introduce your daughter to these disciplines.

A Labor of Love

This book is a true labor of love written by Lyn Ragan alongside her sweet Chip! Their love still continues after his physical disappearance (murder) and reaches out to the reader in the most profound way! Lyn's account of her dreams that Chip is showing her are so detailed and palpable that I was left breathless as I myself relived every dream with her. I do believe that all of us can be open to After Death Communication but that Lyn truly was chosen to write about her and Chip's love story and continual existence after death. I love that Lyn states at the end of her book that one important component she failed to realize about life is -death. Whether it was her parents who failed to teach her or the schooling system or even an adult failing to discuss it her obsolete views about death were a learned behavior. She further states "I have to believe my reaction to Chip's rapid disappearance might have been different if I had been cultured about death in a spiritual sense. If somewhere in my life this was said, death is a celebration for the one releasing the human body I would have had the choice to grieve another way. If someone would have told me that communicating with the Afterlife is a natural process and just because we die a physical death, that doesn't mean our soul dies too". That is why I chose to call this book a labor of love because Lyn and Chip through their love are reaching out to help others understand just what Lyn and most of us don't. LOVE NEVER DIES AND NEITHER DO OUR LOVED ONES! Thank you so much for this beautiful story of love that reaches across the dimensions to educate others. You didn't have to write it but you did!!!

I happened upon this book by coincidence. (fort the record, I don't believe in coincidences) I have read a ton of books on ADC's, NDE's, OBE's, and the like. I find the subject fascinating. So, when I came across 'We Need to Talk' I thought, what the heck. Sounds like a good book, right up my reading alley.

Well, little did I know that I would LOVE this book! It captured my attention in the beginning because it read like a fiction book, and I was intrigued! Most of the books I've read are more on a scientific, and fact based approach. This book was more....softer if you will, very refreshing. The book is well written and down to earth. The loss we all have either had or will have at some point in our lives is devastating...this book helps to really and truly understand where we go and how we really never do go 'anywhere'.

I highly recommend this book BEFORE you lose someone you love. It will help anyone and everyone who needs to heal and understand. The author went through her loss and devastation so she could share with us what she learned from her loss, that there is no ending to life and love.

Good book, easy read

My 8th grade son had a school assignment and had to choose from a list of reading selections. He chose to read this book from the list, and he really enjoyed it. He learned about the early life of former slave Frederick Douglass. The book was an short, and an easy read. He read through it in 2 evenings! Good book!

About the Author
I was born and raised in Cleveland, and started college at Bowling Green State University in 1984 majoring in creative writing. Eleven years later, I walked across the graduation stage to receive a PhD in math, a strange journey indeed. After two years at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, I came home to Ohio, accepting a tenure-track job at the Hamilton campus of Miami University. I’ve won a number of teaching awards in my career, and while maintaining an active teaching schedule, I now spend an inordinate amount of time writing textbooks and course materials. I’ve written or co-authored either seven or twelve textbooks, depending on how you count them, as well as several solutions manuals and interactive CD-ROMS. After many years as developmental math coordinator at Miami Hamilton, I share the frustration that goes along with low pass rates in the developmental math curriculum. Far too many students end up on the classic Jetson’s-style treadmill, with the abstract nature of the traditional algebra curriculum keeping them from reaching their goals. Like so many instructors across the country, I believe the time is right to move beyond the one-size-fits-all curriculum that treats students the same whether they hope to be an engineer or a pastry chef. “Because we’ve always done it that way” is NOT a good reason to maintain the status quo in our curriculum. Let’s work together to devise alternate pathways that help students to learn more and learn better while hastening their trip into credit-bearing math courses. Since my book (Math in Our World) is written for the Liberal Arts Math and Quantitative Literacy market, I think I’m in the right place at the right time to make a difference in the new and exciting pathways course. I’m in a very happy place right now: my love of teaching meshes perfectly with my childhood dream of writing. (Don’t tell my publisher this – they think I spend 20 hours a day working on textbooks – but I’m working on my first novel in the limited spare time that I have.) I’m also a former coordinator of Ohio Project NExT, as I believe very strongly in helping young college instructors focus on high-quality teaching as a primary career goal. I live in Fairfield, Ohio with my lovely wife Cat and fuzzy dogs Macleod and Tessa. When not teaching or writing, my passions include Ohio State football, Cleveland Indians baseball, heavy metal music, travel, golf, and home improvement.

Only a couple of problems from each section are listed in the back of the book, in an attempt to swindle you into a purchase of the solutions manual. The problems do not reference any examples, and the text is sometimes worded poorly. If you don't have to purchase this text for school, don't.
